Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women have been dealt a significant blow ahead of the upcoming season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) after star all-rounder Ellyse Perry withdrew from the tournament due to personal reasons.
Ellyse Perry's absence has come as a shock to fans, especially given her match-winning performances in recent seasons.
Ellyse Perry pulls out WPL 2026
She was one of the key reasons behind RCB women's historic title-winning campaign in WPL 2024. The experienced Australian all-rounder was in outstanding form throughout the season. She finished as the highest run-scorer, winning the Orange Cap with 347 runs from nine matches, and also chipped in with seven wickets.
Her impact was not limited to just one season. In the previous edition as well, Perry scored 372 runs in eight matches, including four half-centuries.
To fill the gap left by Perry, RCB have signed Indian all-rounder Sayali Satghare at her base price of ₹30 lakh. Satghare has earlier represented Gujarat Giants and played four matches across the 2024 and 2025 WPL seasons.
Fans React on social media after Ellyse Perry's sudden exit from WPL
Ellyse Perry’s decision to withdraw has triggered strong reactions from fans on social media, especially on X (formerly Twitter). Several supporters expressed disappointment and frustration, with some taking digs at the timing of her withdrawal.
Many fans pointed out how crucial Perry has been to RCB’s success and questioned how the team would cope without her.
Then there will be a drop of 30% viewership in the WPL if Ellyse Perry withdraws from the tournament according to my blunt calculations. 😭🙏 - @crowdpull45

🚨 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Ellyse Perry has decided to pull out of Tata WPL 2026 for personal reasons. 🚨 We’ll be missing you both on and off the field, Pez! 🥺 We know you’ll be rooting for us from back home! ❤️#PlayBold #ನಮ್ಮRCB @KamalChauhan887
Ideally Ellyse Perry should be banned for atleast 1 year from WPL like Harry brook is banned. This would become a norm in future and there should be consequences of such acts.. @Jaiswalrohit99
