After snubbing the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women for the WPL 2026 season, Ellyse Perry has been striking well in the ongoing Super Smash League 2025-26 in New Zealand. The RCB-W lost their title-winning player from 2024 after retaining her ahead of the WPL mega auction 2026.

While Ellyse Perry cited personal reasons for her absence in the upcoming Women’s Premier League, her dedication with the bat and the ball remained above par for the Wellington Women on December 31.

Ellyse Perry delivers statement performance in Super Smash

Playing for the Wellington Birds Women, Ellyse Perry came in to bat in the first innings and scored a solid 39 runs off 31 balls, anchoring the team’s innings after the early loss of Georgia Plimmer, who fell in the second over to leave the side at a worrying 7 for 1.

She struck four sixes and one boundary during her knock and maintained a strike rate of 125.81. Perry also shared a crucial 76-run partnership with Amelia Kerr before being dismissed by Nensi Patel in the 11th over.

With the ball, Ellyse Perry was well above average as she delivered a match-winning spell, picking up three wickets while conceding just 11 runs from her four overs. She finished with the lowest economy rate in the team in this clash.

Perry’s all-round performance played a key role in helping Wellington seal a comfortable 61-run victory over Northern Brave Women, who were restricted to just 93 runs while chasing a target of 155.

Impact on RCB-W after Ellyse Perry’s withdrawal

The withdrawal from Ellyse Perry saw RCB sign Indian cricketer Sayali Satghare, who is also an all-rounder and will join the squad at the reserved price of INR 30 lakh.

However, Satghare is no match for Perry. The Australian all-rounder boasts a vast T20 and T20I experience with world cup winning campaigns.

From her WPL campaigns, Ellyse Perry has scored 972 runs for RCB Women in 25 matches, while also picking up 14 wickets across seasons. With the bat, she has been a key figure at both the top and middle order for RCB.

Her absence could significantly hurt RCB’s title-winning chances in 2026, especially with Sadghare having experience of only four WPL matches for Gujarat Giants Women, where she managed to take just one wicket and scored 20 runs.
