Kohli does nagin dance after Phillips dismissal [Source: @crictalk7/x.com]
Virat Kohli is an animated character on the field, and the Indian superstar never shies away from expressing his emotions whenever the opposition wicket falls. Sometimes he is furious after a wicket, and sometimes he stays calm and does an unusual celebration that goes viral. One such celebration occurred in the 1st India vs New Zealand ODI match.
In the first ODI in Vadodara, Kuldeep Yadav got the prized wicket of the dangerous Glenn Phillips, and this was a big scalp for India since the Kiwi player had the ability to take the game away from the Indian team.
Kohli's nagin celebration goes viral as Kuldeep takes Phillips' wicket
Phillips was batting at 12 when Kuldeep Yadav tossed one up for the Kiwi batter, and the right player miscued his drive as the ball went straight into the hands of Shreyas Iyer, who was standing at backward point.
After Iyer took a sharp catch to end Phillips’ stay, the entire Indian team erupted in joy, but it was Kohli who looked the most joyous as the India great pointed towards the fielder and did a “nagin celebration”, by playing a flute with his hands, and seemingly teasing Iyer after a sharp catch.
The reason why Kohli was ecstatic after Phillips wicket
Glenn Phillips is a destructive batter and the Kiwi middle-order player has the ability to snatch the game away from India quickly. With the platform set for a big score on a flat wicket, the right-handed cricketer looked destined to punish India with a big score, but Iyer and Kuldeep combined to send the danger man packing, and hence, Kohli erupted in joy as he knew the importance of that wicket.
Kohli's Salman Khan mimicry during IND Vs SA match
This is not the first time in recent memory that Kohli has looked animated and full of vibes. Against South Africa in the 3rd ODI, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a brilliant century in a run-chase and Kohli was his partner at the other end.
After Jaiswal reached the hundred milestone, Kohli urged the batter to do the famous Salman Khan celebration from Tere Naam, as Jaiswal had the same haircut as Salman from the same movie. He mimicked the movie actor and pushed Jaiswal to copy the same.
