India's warm-up fixture against Bangladesh in New York on June 1, 2024, was intriguing as it showcased their fast-bowling prowess and strategic experimentation.

India experimented with a new opening pair, with captain Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson taking the lead. Unfortunately, the RR captain Samson, was dismissed for just 1 off 6 balls.

Rishabh Pant returned to international cricket after a 16-month hiatus, seized the opportunity, and scored an impressive 53 off 32 balls before opting to retire voluntarily.

As the designated batter for 'Men In Blue' Virat Kohli missed the match and was not available, the wicketkeeper batter played at no.3 and took the opportunity with both hands.

After defeating Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma said the management wanted to give Pant an opportunity and the wicketkeeper-batter grabbed it both hands. The skipper also added that the batting order for the upcoming games in the main event is yet to be decided.

“Just to give him (Rishabh Pant) an opportunity. We have not really nailed down what the batting unit will look like. Even the bowlers did pretty well,” Rohit said.

Leading up to the warm-up match, India's fast bowlers Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel —except for Jasprit Bumrah—faced scrutiny due to expensive spells in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

However, in the game against Bangladesh, they delivered an impressive performance.

Defending a total of 182, India's pacers shared seven wickets, restricting Bangladesh to 122/9 and securing a 60-run victory. Arshdeep Singh stood out with figures of 2/12 in 3 overs, while Shivam Dube contributed effectively with 2/13.
