Riding on a magnificent third-wicket stand between Aaron Jones and Andreas Gous, the United States of America had a dream start to the T20 World Cup 2024, defeating Canada in the tournament opener.

While Gous slammed a composed 46-ball 65, Jones led the charge for the co-hosts as he struck a belligerent 40-ball 94 with the help of ten sixes.

Following his heroics in the thrilling contest, one of Jones' old tweets on Virat Kohli went viral on social media.

As netizens started browsing through his profile on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), one of Jones' posts depicting his admiration for the Indian cricket legend grabbed the fans' attention.

"Watching some Virat Kohli videos," the tweet read.

From the tweet, it seems like Jones has been an avid follower of the talismanic Indian batter for a long time. It's an eleven-year-old tweet as he posted it on September 12, 2013.

Since making his debut in 2019, Jones has been an integral member of USA's white-ball setup. He has been particularly successful in T20Is, amassing 478 runs at an average of 28.11 and a strike rate of 116.87.

After a convincing win against Canada, the United States opened their account in the points table. They will take on Pakistan in their next game at Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas on June 6.
