'His Speciality Is...' India Legend On Rishabh Pant's Heroics Vs Bangladesh In Warm-up Game

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar was highly impressed with Rishabh Pant’s return to national colours after a long hiatus, as Pant smashed a match-winning fifty in the warm-up match against Bangladesh in New York on February 1.

Pant's performance at number 3 was exceptional. He was at his aggressive best.  With the help of four sixes and an equal number of boundaries in just 32 balls, he smashed 53 runs before retiring hurt. His ruthless knock played a crucial role in securing India's win, as Bangladesh managed to score only 122 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Manjrekar hails Pant

On Star Sports, Manjrekar praised Pant for quickly assessing the conditions and displaying his true potential in the T20 format.

"The pitch was slightly difficult when he came to bat. We saw Sanju Samson getting out after scoring only one run off six balls. After that, he (Pant) came and his specialty is that he is extremely street-smart and assesses very quickly what needs to be done. 

He is a batter who scored runs at a strike rate of almost 200 on a difficult pitch. This is Rishabh Pant's specialty. His record in T20Is is very ordinary, an average close to 20 and a strike rate of 120 or lower, but we saw today what this guy can do,”  Sanjay Manjrekar said on Star Sports.

Pant's performance not only secured India's victory but also sparked discussions about his potential role in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
