Indian captain Rohit Sharma became a part of history on Saturday night as his troops outclassed a spirited South African outfit in the final to lift the T20 World Cup after 17 years. In the post-match presser, the Indian batting great announced his retirement while also making the journalists laugh with his brilliant sense of humour.

In the press conference, a certain journalist asked Rohit if he believed in the 'good things happen to good people' principle.

In his response, Rohit revealed that India were destined to win the T20 World Cup 2024, hilariously mentioning humans' inability to know what's written in the stars beforehand.

Meanwhile, following India's thrilling World Cup final victory, Rohit announced his T20I retirement, clarifying he would continue playing the other two formats.

His partner-in-crime Virat Kohli also hung up his boots after earning the Player of the Final award for a steady 59-ball 76 under pressure.

Hailed for his scintillating stroke play, Rohit walked the talk this World Cup, amassing the most runs for India at a blistering strike rate.

While his epic innings won India the game against Australia, his glorious half-century on a tricky surface helped the Men in Blue emerge victorious in the semifinal against England.

Although he couldn't contribute much with the bat in the final, Rohit's astute tactical brilliance was one of the major reasons behind India's triumphant outing.
