Kohli Out, Rohit 'Not Named Captain' As Cricket Australia Picks Team Of T20 World Cup 2024

As India and South Africa gear up to face each other in the T20 World Cup final, Cricket Australia has announced its team of the tournament. The team has three Indians- Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah- while ace batter Virat Kohli hasn't found a place due to his poor form. 

In seven innings, Kohli has managed only 75 runs at a horrendous average of 10.71. So, considering it's his worst T20 World Cup outing, he has been excluded from the team.

Cricket Australia's expert panel has picked Rohit Sharma and Travis Head as the openers, considering their batting exploits in the ongoing T20 World Cup. 

Rohit has led India from the front, grabbing a million eyeballs through his fearless batting approach. Meanwhile, Head top-scored for Australia, amassing 255 runs at a blistering strike rate of 158.38. 

However, the panel has named Rashid Khan as the captain as he led Afghanistan to their first-ever semifinal appearance. 

Among others, West Indies' swashbuckling batter Nicholas Pooran and the USA's Aaron Jones have been included, with Marcus Stoinis and Hardik Pandya making it into the team as the all-rounders. 

Bangladesh's Rishad Hossain, who was one of the rare shining lights for his team, has been picked, while Jasprit Bumrah is chosen as the leader of the pace attack alongside Anrich Nortje and Afghanistan's highest wicket-taker Fazalhaq Farooqi.
