This victory brought home the coveted trophy and ended an 11-year ICC title drought, harking back to their 2013 Champions Trophy win under the legendary MS Dhoni's captaincy.

Accompanying a photo of the Indian team hoisting the trophy, Dhoni penned a heartfelt message that resonated with fans worldwide. 

He praised the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma for their calmness and self-belief during the intense finale, acknowledging the collective gratitude of Indians worldwide.

"WORLD CUP CHAMPIONS 2024. My heart rate was up; well done on staying calm, having self-belief, and achieving this feat. From all Indians back home and worldwide, thank you for bringing the World Cup home. CONGRATULATIONS. Arreeee, thanks for the priceless birthday gift,” wrote Dhoni.

Dhoni's playful addition of the birthday gift at the end added a personal touch to the message, highlighting the serendipitous timing of the victory ahead of his birthday on July 7.

Meanwhile, in the nail-biting IND vs SA final, Virat Kohli's crucial 76 off 59 balls and Axar Patel's brisk 47 off 31 set the stage for India's total of 176/7.

Despite South Africa holding the upper hand after 15 overs, India's pace trio—Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat with some sensational death bowling to help India secure the win.
