In a nail-biting finale in Barbados, India secured its second T20 World Cup title, defeating South Africa by a narrow margin of 7 runs.

This victory marked the end of an 11-year ICC title drought since their Champions Trophy win in 2013.

The jubilant Indian captain, Rohit Sharma, received the T20 World Cup 2024 trophy from ICC chairman Greg Barclay and Jay Shah amidst wild celebrations.

A highlight of the festivities was Rahul Dravid’s exuberant display, as Virat Kohli handed him the trophy which laid the foundation for a memorable celebration.

The Indian team then embarked on a heartfelt lap of honour as they expressed gratitude to their fans.

Rohit Sharma carried his daughter Samaira on his shoulders, a touching sight that melted hearts, while Virat Kohli proudly draped the Tricolour across his back. The likes of Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, beaming with joy, paraded the trophy around the field.

One standout moment during this victory lap was the iconic photo of Kohli and Rohit, both wrapped in the national flag, holding the trophy together—a picture worth a thousand words.




Coming to the IND vs SA T20 WC final, Virat Kohli's crucial 76 off 59 balls and Axar Patel’s quickfire 47 off 31 set the stage for India’s total of 176/7.

Despite South Africa being in the driver’s seat after 15 overs, the Indian pace attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, and Hardik Pandya, bowled their hearts out in the final overs, sealing the win by a whisker.
