Before he became part of history with a spectacular performance in the Netherlands' pathbreaking ICC World Cup 2023 upset against South Africa, Dutch pacer Logan van Beek was seen dancing to the local tunes on a Tibetan folk song in Dharamshala.

In a clip going viral on Twitter, Van Beek, who dismissed South African No.11 Keshav Maharaj to close out Netherlands' famous victory on Tuesday (October 17) night, appreciated the welcome gesture offered to him by the locals based in the Himachal Pradesh and danced with them to a popular song.

The women and men based in the hills greeted Van Beek and former Netherlands left-arm pacer Dirk Nannes, who is doing commentary duties at the ongoing World Cup. The clip is being shared with warmth and love for Van Beek after his critical three-fer in the memorable triumph versus the Proteas.

Both Van Beek and Nannes wore the traditional hat and were seen shaking their legs and waving their arms, trying to follow the steps of the locals for what was presumably a ritual song-and-dance activity designed to welcome the touring guests in Tibetan culture.

The clip was shared over Instagram initially by the International Cricket Council (ICC) as an interactive exercise to uphold the local culture in Dharamshala, which is host to a multi-religious and linguistic population, including a huge number of Tibetan residents, with a great following for spiritual Tibetan leader Dalai Lama.

The Tibetan influence on the scenic tourist place nestled amidst the Dhauladhar Himalayan Hills is visible in the food, clothing and overall culture. The Dutch players had the chance to embrace that culture in the build-up to what will now be recalled as one of the most memorable fixture of a World Cup.

Van Beek was one of the heroes of an allround effort from his side as he delivered perhaps the most telling blows to South Africa's chances in a rain-marred fixture. Chasing 246 in a 43-over game, the right-arm seamer broke the back of Proteas' batting with the critical wickets of Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller before dismissing Maharaj to complete a 38-run win for his side.
