Joe Root is a team man, and has an un-English nature. Known to be a leader on the pitch, Root's leadership without actually being the captain was cited during Day 2 of the third Test match between England and West Indies.

In reply to West Indies' 282 in the first innings, England were in a spot of bother, tottering at 31/3 at one stage, and then 54/5.

However, it was the composure of Root, alongside Ben Stokes, Jamie Smith and Chris Woakes that revived the England innings. All four players scored half-centuries as the hosts posted 376.

Root missed out on his 33rd Test ton and was dismissed for 87. However, despite the pain of missing out on a deserving ton, Root could be seen in a jovial mood as he turned cheerleader for Mark Wood, who was wreaking havoc with the ball.

Root started with slow claps and intensified it to pump up the bowler, looking for inroads.

Wood didn't get a wicket, but he tormented the Windies batters with his pace and bounce. Talking about the West Indian innings, the visitors are struggling at 33/2, still trailing England by 61 runs.
