Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav credited the T20 World Cup final experience for his team's hard-fought win in the first T20I against Sri Lanka at Pallekele International Stadium in Kandy. 

Led by Suryakumar, India began their Sri Lanka tour on an emphatic note, swatting aside the visitors by 43 runs in the first T20I of the three-match series. 

Batting first, the Men in Blue posted a whopping 213-run total, courtesy of a collective batting success. Although Sri Lanka started their innings positively, the Indian bowlers bounced back in time, ensuring the visitors' comfortable win.

In the post-match press conference, Surya revealed that India's recent T20 World Cup final victory against South Africa inspired them to make an excellent comeback, as the players didn't lose their hopes during the scintillating opening stand between Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka. 

"I think they were playing some good brand of cricket from ball one. Even with wickets falling, they kept the tempo up," Suryakumar Yadav said. 

"We practised here for two-three days and we knew how the wicket would play. We never thought it would go away from us, given we won the World Cup," he added. 

With the emphatic win in Kandy, India went one-nil up in the series. The next match is scheduled at the same venue on Sunday, as the Men in Blue will aim to sustain their dream run and bag the series.
