In the latest events, former Sri Lanka captain, Kumar Sangakkara, who was present in the commentary box, remarked that Sachin Tendulkar's record might be in danger.

Sangakkara stated that not only Root might surpass Sachin's run tally but also shatter the record for the most appearances in Test cricket. Root, who is 33 years old, needs to play 58 more games to go past Sachin Tendulkar.

In the 2nd Test match, Root had smashed his 32nd Test century.
