[Watch] Dale Steyn Gets 'Emotional' As He Celebrates South Africa's T20 WC Semi-Final Win

South African cricket legend Dale Steyn was visibly emotional as he celebrated South Africa's maiden entry to an ICC tournament finale. The Proteas beat Afghanistan by 9 wickets to produce a magical moment for their country.

Widely known for carrying the tag of 'chokers,' the South African cricket team have often come close to winning an ICC trophy, but fell short either in the quarter or semi-finals.

However, this time around, South Africa changed their fate to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup finals by beating Afghanistan in a one-sided semi-final contest in Trinidad earlier this week. 

Afghanistan collapsed to 56 batting first, and the Proteas chased that down in just 8.5 overs to book their flight tickets to Barbados.

Emotional Dale Steyn after SA's Qualification

That being said, the epic final qualification meant a lot to Aiden Markram and his side as the Proteas was jubilant as well as emotional. Former South Africa legendary fast bowler Dale Steyn also joined the celebrations in Trinidad and got teary eyed as he congratulated the team one by one.

Steyn experienced a heartbreak first hand when he gave up a six to Grant Elliott with New Zealand needing 5 to win off the last 2 balls to win the semi-final of the 2015 ODI World Cup. 

Hence, to witness his nation finally cross the finish line to feature in the maiden ICC tournament finals was nothing but the most joyous occasion for Dale Steyn.

Meanwhile, South Africa will clash with India in the final of the 2024 T20 World Cup on June 29 in Barbados. Notably, both sides have come undefeated in the tournament and stakes are high for both the nations.
