In the first semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets to enter the their first ever final on a testing surface at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago on June 27, 2024.

Talking about the match, Rashid Khan won the toss and invited South Africa to bowl first in a hope that they could put a decent score to make a strong position to reach the final of the marquee tournament. 

But fortunes were not in favour of Afghanistan as South African Bowlers stepped up big time on a difficult surface with Afghanistan batting collapsed in no time. 

The openers failed to provide a much-needed start as Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran failed to replicate their recent success, with both making their way back to the sheds within the first four overs.

So after South Africa's historic win against Afghanistan, let's take a look at the Twitter reactions to Proteas commendable performance. 











Marco Jansen at the beginning of the match scalped important top-order wickets and did not allow the batters to settle on the pitch and score runs. To make things more difficult for the batters Tabraiz Shamsi cleaned up the tail by taking three crucial wickets. 

Kagiso Rabada was the man of the day as he with his extraordinary ability took a wicket off his first ball and finished with 2/14 in 3. With the collective effort of the South African bowling attack Afghan side collapsed for just 56 in the 12th over.

Opening bowlers Naveen-ul-Haq and Fazalhaq Farooqi kept things tight by not providing ample opportunities for the batters to score runs and later on Farooqi removed Quinton de Kock for just 5 but that was the only wicket that Afghanistan took as South Africa chased down the target in just 9 overs.
