In a one-sided semi-final match between Afghanistan and South Africa, Aiden Markram & Co defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets to make their first-ever place in the final in the ongoing ICC Men's T20 World Cup.

Earlier in the match, Rashid Khan won the toss and decided to bat first on a difficult pitch at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad & Tobago.

But the surface of the pitch provided lateral movement along with early bounce. The South African bowlers exploited the conditions well as Marco Jansen and Kagiso Rabada in no time dismantled the top-order and claimed five wickets inside the first five overs, to send the opposition spiralling towards their eventual 56 all out in the much-anticipated match.

For a team that has been considered as choker and has a track record for playing jittery cricket in the knockouts, this win was a completely dominant and clinical victory.

After this victory, South Africa recorded the biggest wins for them in men’s T20 World Cups with 67 balls remaining.

Chasing a low target, South Africa lost an early wicket of Quinton de Kock, despite this Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks calmly navigated the small chase as South Africa chased down the target with 67 balls remaining.

Earlier South Africa had recorded this against Zimbabwe in 2012 in which they had defeated them with 44 balls remaining.
