The popularity of CSK great MS Dhoni seems to know no bounds. In every CSK game this IPL 2024 season, the legendary wicketkeeper-batter received immense support from roaring crowds, regardless of the venue.

Be it during CSK’s home games or away fixtures, a number of fans can be spotted wearing MS Dhoni’s iconic ‘number seven’ jersey. Moreover, Dhoni’s arrival to the crease was also met with utter jubilation and euphoria among fans of both competing teams.

Unfortunately for CSK fans, the ‘Yellow Brigade’ crashed out of the IPL 2024 playoffs race by losing to RCB in Bengaluru in mid-May. The outcome ensured that Chennai’s iconic Chepauk Stadium hosted its playoff game (Qualifier 2) without CSK’s or Dhoni’s involvement.

While the ground still witnessed a healthy turnout for a neutral game, one self-proclaimed CSK enthusiast slammed the fanbase of the popular franchise for obsessing over a single individual more than the team.

At various stages of the IPL 2024 season, CSK fans were spotted celebrating the loss of even key well-set batters of the team in order to revel at the arrival of ageing warhorse MS Dhoni at the crease.

The overt ‘MS Dhoni obsession’ seems to have irked one particular CSK fan, who attended the team’s home venue at Chepauk, albeit to witness an SRH vs Rajasthan Royals qualifier match as a neutral fan. In a video that has since gone viral on social media, the fan in contention can be seen describing CSK’s recent home games as ‘Dhoni circus’.

The fan also questioned the unyielding obsession of the fanbase of the franchise over one individual instead of supporting the entire team.

Regardless, MS Dhoni managed to enthrall one and all with his big-hitting dexterity this IPL 2024 season. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter pummeled 161 runs in 11 innings at a strike-rate of over 220.
