Bangladesh fast bowler Taskin Ahmed will likely miss his team’s T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match against India on June 1. The 29-year-old is currently undergoing rehabilitation in the USA and is expected to regain fitness in time for Bangladesh’s opening match of the tournament.

Ahmed also missed out on Bangladesh’s recent three-match T20I series against the United States in Houston.

Taskin Ahmed likely to miss IND vs BAN warm-up

Taskin Ahmed was included in Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad even when he was not fully recovered from the rib fracture he sustained earlier this year. While the injury has already prompted him to miss Bangladesh’s three-match T20I series against USA in late-May, it seems like the fast bowler is also on course to miss his team’s T20 World Cup 2024 warm-up match against India.

The warm-up match between Bangladesh and India will be played on June 1 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

However, Ahmed might well attain full recovery in time for Bangladesh’s opening match of the tournament against arch-rivals Sri Lanka on June 7 in Texas.

BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury recently stated that Taskin Ahmed is already showing signs of recovery and is currently undergoing rehabilitation and gym training in the USA. The physician also added that the team management is hopeful of his availability for the match against Sri Lanka.

Prior to facing India in New York, the Bangladesh cricket team will also face T20 World Cup 2024 co-hosts USA on May 28 in Texas for their first warm-up game of the tournament.
