Just days after retiring from Test cricket, Virat Kohli has caught the attention of Middlesex County Cricket Club, who have confirmed their interest in signing the Indian cricket legend. The 36-year-old recently ended his Test career, ruling himself out of India’s upcoming five-match Test series in England.
Last week, Kohli called it quits on his Test career, just weeks ahead of India’s pivotal tour to England. In his glorious run in red ball cricket, he scored 9,230 runs in 123 Tests at an average of 46.85, with 30 centuries and 31 fifties.
His highest Test score was an unbeaten 254. However, days after retirement, Kohli is getting offers from County Cricket.
Middlesex Invites Virat Kohli To County Cricket
In a surprising turn of events, Middlesex County Club, based at Lord’s Cricket Ground, are hoping to bring Virat Kohli to London later this season to play in the County Championship or the One-Day Cup.
The club has a history of signing big stars, like AB de Villiers and Kane Williamson, and could team up with Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) to help fund a deal for Kohli.
However, since Kohli is still under contract with the BCCI and plays in the IPL, he can’t take part in overseas T20 tournaments like the T20 Blast or The Hundred. Still, he can play in the County Championship or the Metro Bank Cup, which are red-ball and 50-over formats.
Interestingly, Kohli also has a home in London and had previously signed for Surrey in 2018 before a neck injury ended that plan.
RCB To Pay Tribute To Kohli
Meanwhile, RCB fans are set to pay a heartfelt tribute to Virat Kohli’s Test career at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 17. Fans were seen selling and buying his iconic No. 18 Test jersey ahead of RCB’s match against KKR. Kohli, who retired from Tests earlier this month, has been in sublime IPL 2025 form, scoring 505 runs in 11 innings. The tribute reflects his unmatched legacy in Indian cricket.
