The inevitable happened and rain decided to play spoilsport in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru Vs Kolkata Knight Riders match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. As per Accuweather, rain was predicted for the entire evening and it came true as the toss was delayed.
Normally in May, Bengaluru receives a lot of rain and it came at the wrong time for both RCB and KKR. This is not the first time a rain-marred game happened at this venue. The last time it happened, RCB battled PBKS.
The last time rain played spoilsport in RCB's IPL 2025 match
It was the 34th match of the IPL 2025 and it turned out to be a rain-marred 14 overs game. RCB batted first and had a horrendous start as they lost 7 wickets for 42 runs and stared at a heavy defeat.
However, Tim David, the RCB finisher came to the party as he did the rescue act and slammed his maiden IPL fifty to help RCB post 95/9.
In reply, RCB bowlers, particularly, Josh Hazlewood ran riot as Punjab Kings pressed a panic button. However, Nehal Wadhera showed his composure and steered PBKS past the winning line 5 wickets and 11 balls to spare.
RCB to go top of the table if they beat KKR
RCB will hope that rain stops immediately as they have a golden chance to go top of the table if they win tonight. A win will also help them to qualify for the playoffs as they will become the first team to reach the knockouts.
As far as KKR are concerned, if they lose tonight or even get a point out of it, the team will crash out of the competition.
