Mohammed Shami, who is currently recovering from an injury, has been creating quite a furore on social media.

Shami, who resorted to using 'X' since yesterday, sees himself go viral after replying to fake accounts of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The pacer underwent successful Achilles tendon operation last month, responded to well wishes from parody accounts of Shah, and Adityanath thanking them for their messages, amongst the millions for others from his fans.

The 33-year-old missed India's tour of South Africa, and home series against England, after playing the World Cup 2023 with an injury, earning praise from all quarters for his commitment towards the nation.

Shami claimed 24 wickets in the World Cup in India, helping Rohit Sharma and Co. reach the final of the tournament, and finish the tournament as leading wicket-taker.

Apart from becoming a victim of mistaken identity, Shami also ended up liking several fan messages on 'X', where one ended up attracting the most attention, as it contained a highly condemnable racial remark about Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya

Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed that Shami will not participate in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 for the Gujarat Titans (GT), and will mainly focus of his rehabilitation. For GT, Shami is invaluable, claiming 48 wickets for the franchise across two seasons since 2022.
