Days ahead of the new IPL season, LSG captain KL Rahul has instilled excitement amongst fans with his social media post. For the first time since the quadriceps injury, Rahul was seen performing on-field training drills at NCA in Bangalore.

KL Rahul was sidelined from India's five-game Test series against England due to a quadriceps injury. He was accordingly sent to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore for rehabilitation.

Meanwhile, with two weeks left for the IPL 2024 season opener, KL Rahul's injury had cast doubt on his availability as Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain. Notably, KL needs clearance from NCA authorities to participate in the league tournament.

Meanwhile, in the latest update, the middle-order batter shared a few snippets from his on-field training drills. KL Rahul is still at NCA and was captured running on the field for the first time since his injury diagnosis.

While Rahul didn't share specific details about his potential return timeline, critics expect him to join LSG camp before the season kicks off on March 22

Notably, with Ishan Kishan out of a central contract and Rishabh Pant struggling with his fitness, Rahul has an opportunity to contest for the wicket-keeper batter's position in India's ICC T20 World Cup squad.

However, to claim the prized spot, he has to prove his fitness and showcase why he deserves to be in the limited-over-format team in the first place.

While the stakes are high, KL Rahul is unlikely to compromise his fitness. LSG will play their IPL 2024 season opener against Rajasthan Royals on March 24, and the skipper is expected to join the camp on time.

Ultimately, while IPL fans eagerly anticipate KL Rahul's potential comeback, the focus remains on his health and ensuring that he returns to the field stronger and fitter than ever.
