Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav has decided to donate his entire earnings from the 2025 Asia Cup to the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Alzarri Joseph has been ruled out of the West Indies squad for the upcoming two-match Test series against hosts India. ICC launches children’s campaign for Women’s World Cup 2025
The International Cricket Council (ICC), in collaboration with the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) have announced the launch of the ‘Promise to Children’ initiative for the upcoming 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. The campaign aims to provide equal opportunities to young boys and girls all over the world, as confirmed by ICC chairman Jay Shah as well as by UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey. India Women vice-captain Smriti Mandhana and Bollywood actor Ayushmann Khurrana are also attached to support the campaign.
Suryakumar Yadav donates Asia Cup earnings to Indian Army
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav will be donating the entire match fees he generated from the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup to the Indian Armed Forces as well as to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terrorist attack that took place earlier this year. The T20I skipper confirmed the same while talking with the reporters during the post-match press conference, i.e., moments after leading Team India to a thrilling five-wicket win over Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Chris Woakes announces retirement after Ashes 2025 snub
England fast-bowling all-rounder Chris Woakes has confirmed his retirement from international cricket. The 36-year-old was recently excluded from the England squad for the upcoming 2025-26 Ashes series in Australia later this year. Woakes made his international debut back in January 2011 during England’s all-format tour of Australia.
A two-time World Cup winning cricketer, he capped his journey with 62 Tests, 122 ODIs and 33 T20I matches for England. He played the last of those internationals a couple of months ago against India in a tight Test at The Oval in London.
Gill, Bumrah and co. to arrive directly in Ahmedabad for Tests
India’s Asia Cup 2025 winning players, as well as West Indies Test-bound stars like captain Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel will reportedly fly directly to Ahmedabad from Dubai. The report also indicated that the cricketers will be arriving in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, September 30, i.e., just a couple of days prior to the launch of the Test series against West Indies at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. Each of the aforementioned four players were part of the Indian playing XI that outclassed Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2025 final on September 28.
Alzarri Joseph ruled out of India series, replacement named
After Shamar Joseph, now another West Indies fast bowler Alzarri Joseph has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against India owing to an injury. The speedster complained of discomfort, and scans revealed a “a degeneration of the previously resolved back injury”. Cricket West Indies has now called up left-arm fast bowler and uncapped Jediah Blades as Joseph’s replacement. According to a CWI release, Jason Holder declined to fill in for Alzarri owing to his upcoming medical procedure.
