The Indian cricket team will reportedly arrive directly in Ahmedabad after winning the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE. The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is also scheduled to host Team India’s series-opening first Test match against the visiting West Indies group on October 2, i.e., mere four days after the conclusion of the continental event in Dubai.
Several Test bound players like Kuldeep Yadav, all-rounder Axar Patel as well as captain Shubman Gill took part in the tournament. A report indicates that the Asia Cup winning players will also be greeted with a welcome surprise upon arriving in Ahmedabad.
From T20Is in Dubai to Tests in Ahmedabad for Team India
Indian players will fly from Dubai to Ahmedabad on Tuesday, September 30, i.e., just a couple of days prior to the start of the two-match Test series against the West Indies team, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar.
Asia Cup winning players like spinner Kuldeep Yadav, all-rounder Axar Patel, ace speedster Jasprit Bumrah and Test captain Shubman Gill will be joining the Indian team in Ahmedabad. The Indian coaching staff, led by head coach Gautam Gambhir will also be joining the squad in the Gujarat city.
As per reports, the Indian team is staying in ITC Narmada, and the hotel is planning a welcome surprise for the incoming Asia Cup 2025 winning players.
On the other hand, the West Indies cricket team has already touched base in Ahmedabad for the start of the Test series. The first of the two Tests will be played at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between October 2 and October 6. The series between the two teams will also form a part of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
