In a significant development, West Indies seamer Alzarri Joseph has been ruled out of upcoming two match Test match series against India. The West Indies Cricket took to social media to update about Joseph's exit from the Test squad.
Notably, the right-arm seamer picked up a issue with his back and after the scans, it revealed that Alzarri has discomfort in his previously resolved lower-back injury. It is a massive blow to West Indies as the test series begins on October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
West Indies cricket Name replacement
The West Indies cricket has called up Jediah Blades as a cover for the next two Tests against India. Notably, Blades is currently part of West Indies' ODI and T20I series against Nepal and will join the team after completing his commitments against Nepal.
Further, the board also added that they had contacted Jason Holder to replace Alzarri Joseph in the team, but the former West Indies captain declined the opportunity citing medical reasons.
Second Blow To West Indies Pace Attack
It is the second blow to West Indies' chances against India for the Test series as their star bowler Shamar Joseph was also ruled out earlier this week. The cricket board didn't disclose the nature of the injury, but stated that the right-arm seamer, who was instrumental during West Indies' home series to Australia, won't take part against India.
Meanwhile, Johann Layne has been named as the replacement for the fast bowler, who has been sidelined due to an undisclosed injury. Talking about the upcoming series, it will be West Indies' first tour in the new WTC cycle and the Roston Chase-led side also arrived a few days earlier in Ahmedabad to better prepare and adapt to the conditions.
