Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed will return to Bangladesh after being sent to the UAE as a backup, the BCB confirmed on Saturday. Nasum was flown to Dubai on Friday when fellow cricketers Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana faced visa problems and were stuck at Dubai International Airport for three days.
Bangladesh is currently touring the UAE for a 2-game T20I series beginning from May 17. However, the visitors faced serious visa issues, which left a few members of the squad stranded.
Fortunately, the BCB took swift action to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
BCB Resolves Rishad Hossain And Nahid Rana’s Visa Issues
Bangladesh cricketers Rishad Hossain and Nahid Rana were stuck in Dubai for 3 days due to visa-related issues. Hence, as a backup, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) quickly sent Nasum to the UAE as a contingency plan to make sure the team had enough players available.
However, the visa issues for Rishad and Nahid were sorted out late on May 16, and they have now joined the national squad in the UAE.
Shahriar Nafees, the head of BCB's cricket operations, confirmed that Nasum will return home tomorrow. He added that BCB were unsure about the situation with the visas, so they sent him as a backup. Now that the issue is resolved, the team no longer needs him.
Nafees added that the board also considered that Mustafizur Rahman will only play one game before leaving the team, so having Nasum there was a safety measure.
Bangladesh Allows Mustafizur To Play IPL 2025
Mustafizur Rahman has received BCB’s NOC to play in IPL 2025, joining Delhi Capitals as Jake Fraser-McGurk’s replacement. Despite controversy and #BoycottDelhiCapitals trending due to political tensions, the pacer is set to feature in DC’s May 18 match vs Gujarat Titans, becoming the first Bangladeshi in IPL 2025.
