Musheer Khan, the Mumbai batter was involved in a horrific road accident on Friday, and initially was ruled out of the Irani Cup, set to take place in Lucknow. On Friday afternoon, Musheer was travelling with his father to Lucknow, when the unfortunate accident occurred.

Musheer's car hit a divider and overturned on the Yamuna Expressway. As per sources, his father, Naushad Khan, and other two people who were travelling suffered from minor scratches, but Mumbai's star batter experienced concussion and pain behind his back.

The youngster was taken to the hospital immediately and doctors have stated that he may be carrying a possible fracture and could be potentially out for a minimum of 16 weeks.

Initially, he was expected only to miss the Irani Cup and a couple of matches in the Ranji Trophy. Still, as per the initial scans, Musheer could be out for 4 months, putting his cricketing career to a temporary end.

“He met with an accident last night and will miss the Irani Cup. He will be flying back to Mumbai on Sunday. The medical team of MCA and BCCI is monitoring his situation. The BCCI will be doing another round of medical tests and scan once he returns,” an MCA official said.

Musheer ditched his teammate to travel with his father

The Mumbai team travelled to Lucknow on Friday evening, and Musheer was supposed to travel with the squad. However, his father, Naushad Khan, requested MCA to allow his som to travel with him, so that he can train before the Irani Cup commences.

Musheer had performed poorly in the last couple of matches in the Duleep Trophy, and Naushad Khan wanted him to be ready for the upcoming Irani Cup challenge.

The defending Ranji Trophy champions were slated to take on the Rest of the India squad for the Irani Cup at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium. The Mumbai side are yet to announce Musheer’s replacement.
