Fans and players from both the sides were excited for a riveting Test match, but the Kanpur Test has left everyone disappointed, including the India and Bangladesh players. The match is constantly seeing relentless rain, and so far, only 35 overs have been bowled.

The start of Day 1 was delayed due to persistent rain, and the same happened at the start of Day 2, as not even a single delivery has been bowled. There is rain prediction on all five days of the Test match, and there could be a chance that the Test match could get abandoned.

In case the Kanpur Test match gets washed out, and the match ends in a draw, the series will end at 1:1, and India will miss out on a great opportunity to get the WTC points on the table. Hence, in this piece, we decode how India can qualify for the WTC finals if the Kanpur Test ends in a draw.

India need to win 5 out of their remaining 8 Tests

The rain prediction is there on all the remaining days of the Kanpur Test, and after this game, Rohit Sharma's Team India will have 8 Tests left. 3 against New Zealand, and 5 against Australia.

A 2-0 series win against Bangladesh would have meant that India would have needed only 3 wins out of the 8 remaining Tests. However, if the match gets abandoned, the scenario changes. India's best chance is to secure a clean sweep against a struggling New Zealand side, who are on the verge of series defeat against Sri Lanka.

India, will then travel to Australia for a 5-match Test series, and it will be a stern Test for Team India. Hence, if India defeat the Kiwis 3-0, they only need to win 2 Tests out of the 5 scheduled to secure a place in the WTC finals, which will take place at Lord's next year.
