The 2024 edition of the Caribbean Premier League is fast approaching its playoff stage, and in the 28th match of the season, Trinbago Knight Riders managed a 30-run win over Barbados Royals. There were plenty of good performances from the Knight Riders side and two of those were from Pollard and Andre Russell. It was a power-hitting masterclass from the two stalwarts and their onslaught at the death propelled Knight Riders to 175 which proved to be the winning score in the end.

Kieron Pollard walked out to bat at number 5 with TKR in all sorts of trouble at 35-3 in the fifth over. The Knight Riders skipper though showed great application and formed a good 70-run stand with Keacy Carty to bring the home team back in the game. Pollard started off cautiously and only hit his first six on the 15th ball. However, that gave him the much-needed confidence and the big man from Trinidad smashed hat-trick of sixes against Keshav Maharaj in the very next over.

Russell then walked out to bat in the 14th over after the wicket of Carty, and unleashed his might straightaway. He smashed a four and a six to get his knock underway and then tonked Jason Holder for two sixes in a single over. Russell scored 31 off just 12 balls and hit four sixes and a four in his cameo. Pollard had earlier hit 42 off 27 balls which also included four sixes and on a tricky pitch at the Brian Lara Stadium, the sheer power took TKR to a massive total.

In reply, Barbados Royals were always behind the 8-ball in the run-chase and fell way short in the end, despite 44 and 30 from Alick Athanaze and Miller respectively.
