Liam Livingstone reminded fans as to why he is regarded as one of the best finishers in the modern game. He showed his class in the 4th ODI against Australia, and took on their best bowler, Mitchell Starc with ease, smashing him for 28 runs in the last over of the innings.

This was the most expensive over in an ODI match conceded by an Australian bowler as Starc created unwanted record. Thanks to Livingstone, England posted 312/5 inside 39 overs (DLS).

The match was shortened to a 39-over game per side and England batted first on a flat surface. The openers - Phil Salt and Ben Duckett took full advantage of the situation and took on the Australian attack with ease.

Duckett, in particular, was the chief aggressor as he smashed a brilliant fifty and laid a strong foundation for the middle-order batters. From there on, the newly appointed skipper, Harry Brook took advantage of the match and played yet another captain’s knock.

The aggressive batter smashed 87 off 58 deliveries and made a mockery of the Australian attack. However, with England trailing in the series, they needed a strong finish and Livingstone provided that in the last over.

He hammered the first ball for a six, and while the next ball was a dot delivery, Livingstone took on Starc in the next four deliveries and smacked 22 runs to end the England innings on a high.
