In a significant development, the iconic Lord's Cricket Ground has been confirmed as the venue for the much-anticipated World Test Championship final next year. The high-voltage encounter between the top two sides in the WTC points table will be held at the home of cricket between June 11 and 16, including a reserve day.

The World Test Championship is a two-year cycle, comprising a number of bilateral series between the Test playing nations in both home and away conditions. The inaugural season of the competition was played between 2019 and 2021, with New Zealand defeating India in the final at Rose Bowl, Southampton.

India sustained their dream run and qualified for the WTC final in the second season as well, but a clinical performance from Pat Cummins-led Australia once again shattered their dream of adding the prestigious mace to their trophy cabinet.

Will India enter the WTC final for the third consecutive time?

Regarding the ongoing WTC cycle, India are the favourites to enter the final, thanks to their exceptional performance in red-ball cricket. After defeating West Indies in their backyard last year, India drew the series by 1-1 against South Africa

However, the home series against England proved pivotal in boosting India's percentage points (PCT), as Rohit Sharma's men secured a commanding victory despite losing the first Test.

Currently, India are sitting at the top of the pile with an impressive PCT of 68.52. Australia are placed second with 62.5 percentage points. So, the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be crucial from both sides' perspective, as they would be keen to cement their place in the final with a series victory.
