Former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took a sharp dig at nemesis Michael Vaughan by showing him the mirror after he advertised the idea of dividing Test cricket into two divisions moments after England climbed to fourth position in the WTC standings. With two back-to-back home series triumphs, the England cricket team have successfully improved their rankings on the World Test Championship standings, thus reviving their chances of qualifying for the ultimate finals.

England struggled at the bottom few places of the table about a month ago. But with two series victories against West Indies and Sri Lanka, the Englishmen are looking competitive again for the prized spot.

Wasim Jaffer-Michael Vaughan's banter continues!

That being said, as soon as England jumped from 9th spot to 4th position on the WTC standings following Lord’s victory, ex-England cricketer Michael Vaughan used his Twitter to advocate the idea of dividing Test cricket into two divisions of 6 teams each.

His idea was apparently a solution to what he perceives as the declining quality and interest in Test cricket.

However, Wasim Jaffer exposed Vaughan by digging up a month-old WTC table. Jaffer stated that the ‘division’ idea didn’t pop up in Michael Vaughan’s head when England was placed 9th a month ago. Now that his team is back in the top 5 of WTC standings, he wants to divide Test cricket.

Not only that, Jaffer accused Vaughan of misleading his followers by timing his tweets as per England’s convenience.

Vaughan Takes Dig At Virat Kohli Over Stats Comparison With Joe Root

Michael Vaughan once again irked Indian fans when he compared Virat Kohli’s Test career stats to that of Joe Root. Notably, Kohli, once a leading mention in fab 4, witnessed a steep decline in form since covid pandemic.

While Kohli has scored only 2 centuries in the last 4 years, Root’s hundred tally since 2021 touched 17 after the latest ton at Lords.
