Experienced Indian batter Vishnu Vinod failed to convert his start into a big score in Thissur Titans' first group-stage encounter against Alleppey Ripples in the ongoing Kerala Cricket League. The dynamic right-handed batter came to bat at number three after Abhishek Pratap departed for a golden duck. He even got a dazzling start to his innings but was dismissed by a magnificent delivery from Alfi Francis.

The incident occurred during the fifth over of the Titans' innings when Vishnu Vinod was trying to steady the ship alongside Imran Ahammed. Alleppey Ripples' skipper Mohammed Azharuddeen brought his ace spinner, Alfi Francis, into the attack to break the budding stand.

His decision proved to be a tactical masterstroke, as the wily finger spinner deceived Vinod with his guile and accuracy. After conceding a six off the fourth ball, Francis made a remarkable comeback, outfoxing the batter beautifully.

Francis bowled a well-disguised, good-length ball from over the wicket, drawing Vinod onto a false shot. As the swashbuckling batter created room for a risky lofted shot over the off-side field, he was completely deceived by the flight, with the ball shattering his stumps.

Alleppey Riders thrash Thissur Titans in KCL 2024 opener

Riding on Akshay Manohar's valiant half-century, Thissur Titans posted a respectable total of 161 runs in 20 overs. However, a belligerent 47-ball 92 from skipper Azharuddeen and a valuable cameo from Akshay TK helped the Riders chase the target inside 19 overs. Alleppey Riders opened their account in the KCL points table with this convincing win.
