When Would KL Rahul Return To Action; Will LSG Captain Miss IPL 2024?

KL Rahul has returned to India after consulting a specialist in London for his quadriceps pain. The Indian middle-order stalwart recently took field against England in Hyderabad before his injury setback ruled him out of the remainder of India’s five-match series.

While several experts speculated Rahul to return to the Indian playing XI for the final two Tests of the series, his quadriceps pain ended up requiring an extended period of recovery. 

As of now, the 31-year-old wicketkeeper-batter is eyeing the forthcoming IPL 2024 season for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as a mean to make a comeback to the national side.

The IPL 2024 season itself will serve as a prelude to India’s preparation for this year’s 2024 T20 World Cup in the West Indies.


KL Rahul eyeing IPL 2024 for Team India return

KL Rahul will continue to work his way towards full attaining full recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. 

While he will likely be declared fit within the next few weeks, he will be expected to join the LSG pre-IPL 2024 training camp later this month.

According to a source close to TOI, Rahul is eager to “prove his worth” in the IPL 2024 season, considering he is one of the candidates to make it to India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad as a wicketkeeper.

Rahul recently punched out scores of 86 and 22 against England at Hyderabad. He also served as India’s primary wicketkeeper-batter in the absence of injured Rishabh Pant at the 2023 ODI World Cup last year.

As of now, he is slated to lead the LSG franchise in IPL 2024 alongside deputy Krunal Pandya. Their opening match of the tournament will be staged on March 24 against the Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur.
