KKR To Sign Mayank Agarwal Before IPL 2024 Auctions As Rumours Continue To Heat Up

With the IPL trade window open until December 12, which is seven days before the upcoming auctions, countless rumours are making the rounds. Of them, Mayank Agarwal going to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is the biggest of all.

Mayank, who has a reputation for being among the most reliable players of all time, did not have a fantastic IPL 2023 season with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The 32-year-old, who made INR 8.25 crore in the previous auction, was only able to score 270 runs in 10 innings, and that was only with the support of a quickfire 46-ball 83 against the Mumbai Indians in their last league game.

Depending on what newly appointed coach Gautam Gambhir thinks of Agarwal, the move is undoubtedly on as KKR is searching for an Indian opener and the player appears to be out of favour in the Orange Army.

The best IPL season Mayank had was in 2021 when he scored 441 runs over 12 matches at a strike rate of 140.44. The best score he scored was 99 not out in that season, with an average reading of 40.09.

In addition to having a dependable opener, KKR need to include a batsman who can keep wickets as well. All they have is Rahmanullah Gurbaz, but adding him will require a foreign slot. Since Jason Roy is already on the team, KKR would like to add an Indian player who can don the big gloves.
