It was hilarious banter on social media on Wednesday between Sunil Gavaskar and Sachin Tendulkar, the Little Masters of Indian Cricket. A recent visit by Gavaskar to Sachin Railway Station in Surat, Gujarat, evoked fond memories and garnered reactions from fans and Tendulkar.
In a photo posted on Instagram, Gavaskar, 74, playfully expressed how happy he was to be at a train station called after Sachin Tendulkar, his ‘favourite cricketer and, more importantly, favourite person.’ Posing at Sachin Railway Station and gesturing towards its name, Gavaskar was seen in the photo with a caption that expressed his excitement about the visit.
"What foresight of those in the last century to name a railway station near Surat after one of the all time greats of our game and my favourite cricketer but more importantly my favourite person," Gavaskar used the caption.
Sachin gave a heartwarming response there, commenting, "Your words mean a lot, Gavaskar sir. Happy to see that the weather at Sachin is Sunny!"

As opposed to popular belief, Sachin Railway Station isn't named after the cricket maestro. Instead, it's associated with Sachin village, in the Surat district. As an industrial hub, the village has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the region.
Tendulkar and Gavaskar have a well-established friendship, and the former has previously expressed regret at not being able to play with his batting idol. Both cricket players—Gavaskar in 1983 and Tendulkar in 2011—went on to win the World Cup for India.
