One of the most talented cricketers coming out of India is Ruturaj Gaikwad. The prodigious Gaikwad is been on the fringes of Team India and is currently featuring for the national side against Australia in a five-match T20I series, where the opener showcased his class at Guwahati, slamming his maiden 20-overs century.

The 26-year-old also skippered India in the recently concluded Asian Games 2023 in China, where the team won a gold medal.

Former India player Ambati Rayudu, who has seen Gaikwad from close quarters during his Chennai Super Kings (CSK) days, believes the Pune-born opener is underutilised by Team India currently.

Speaking on The BeerBiceps podcast, Rayudu explained what makes Gaikwad different from other prodigal talent and that opener can become a world-class cricketer moving forward, apart from leading India as skipper.

Here's what Rayudu said

"I think for me who is being underused by Indian cricket right now is Ruturaj Gaikwad. I think he has tremendous talent. He is one guy who should be used more. Should be given opportunities across formats. His greatness is just his talent, his time on the bat, his shots, his fitness, and his temperament. He has everything to become a world-class cricketer."

"Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) is very, very calm, and he knows what he is doing. He has a great sense of silent aggression in him. Not very similar (to Dhoni) and has that calmness about him, and he reads the fame well. I think he will be a great asset for India."

Gaikwad will be in action for India tomorrow when they clash against Australia in the fourth T20I at Raipur.
