After leading India to a comprehensive series win against England, captain Rohit Sharma addressed speculations over his future in international cricket and his alleged retirement blueprint.

Rohit Sharma took over as the captain of the Indian senior cricket team across all formats after Virat Kohli called it quits in 2022 in an abrupt announcement.

However, the veteran batter embraced the new challenge and ensured a smooth transition of power. Under his reign, India finished as runners-up in the ODI World Cup, having cruised through the finals without a single loss in the tournament.

In a recent achievement, Rohit Sharma led India to a dominating series win against England, which concluded in Dharamsala earlier today. As Sharma lifted the trophy, speculations over his future gained momentum.

In a post-game interview, Sharma said the day he wakes up and feels he is not good enough to lead or even play at the highest level; he will happily hang his boots. Rohit confirmed he has no intentions of dragging his career unnecessarily.

Furthermore, Rohit Sharma revealed that he has improved his game in the past couple of years. Perhaps the captaincy has brought the best out of Sharma.

"If one day I wake up and feel I'm not good enough, I'll step away from cricket. I feel I've bettered my game in the last 2-3 years," Rohit said to JioCinema.

That being said, Rohit Sharma is here to stay, at least for the imminent future. Notably, he is also expected to lead India in the upcoming T20 World Cup amid rumors of his alleged plans to drop the shorter format.

Overall, looking ahead, Sharma's focus will be on maintaining his fitness and form as he prepares for upcoming challenges, including the ICC T20 World Cup and other international assignments.

As a senior and key member of the Indian team across all formats, Sharma's contributions will be crucial to India's aspirations of success in various tournaments and series in the coming years.
