Rohit Sharma led Team India to an emphatic innings victory against England within three days of the Dharamshala Test.

Indian spinners Ravichandran Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav delivered timely strikes throughout the second English innings to fold them up for just 195. Earlier in the match, both Ashwin and Kuldeep had also demolished the visitors for 218 before India amassed 477 off the back of centuries from Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill.

The outcome also helped Team India seal their five-match Test series against the visiting Englishmen by a 4-1 margin.

Rohit Sharma Attains Historic Feat With Series Win

Under Rohit Sharma, Team India fell to a 28-run defeat to England in the opening Test of their five-match series to England in January 2024. However, Sharma and co. fought back in Vizag to level up the series, before India registered their biggest Test win (by 434 runs) in Rajkot to take a 2-1 lead against England.

The hosts also demolished the visitors by five wickets in Ranchi to claim their series with a match to spare, before extending their dominance with an innings win in Dharamshala to pocket their five-game rubber by a 4-1 margin.

By guiding India to four successive wins against England, Rohit Sharma became the first-ever captain in more than a century to lead his country to a 4-1 series win despite trailing 0-1 after the opening Test.

Former England cricketer Johnny Douglas was the last captain to attain this historic feat after he led his country to a 4-1 Ashes triumph in Australia back in March 1912.

Remarkably, Rohit Sharma also helped India reaffirm their status as the number one ranked team on the 2023-25 WTC points table.

With an IPL 2024 season and a T20 World Cup in sight, Team India will now face Bangladesh for their subsequent Test challenge in September this year.
