In a historic milestone during his 100th Test match, Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin etched his name into the annals of cricketing greatness by joining an elite list of legendary bowlers. Ashwin achieved this feat by claiming a five-wicket haul in Dharamsala against England, a feat that has now placed him alongside illustrious names such as Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Muttiah Muralitharan.

Ravichandran Ashwin will go down as one of India's greatest and most successful spinners in Test history. The off-spinner surpassed the 500 wickets milestone earlier in the recently concluded Test series against England.

And to conclude the successful series, Ashwin topped it off with another five-wicket haul on the eve of his 100th career red ball game.

The series finale Test held in Dharamsala happened to be Ashwin's 100th Test game, and the spinner turned it into a fairytale event with exceptional bowling efforts.

After a four-wicket haul in the first innings, Ashwin left a greater impact in the second innings which eventually led India to an innings and 64 runs victory.

The veteran bagged a fifer to dismiss five of the first seven English batters. Ashwin has now joined the legends of Shane Warne, Anil Kumble, and Muttiah Muralitharan to become the fourth bowler to bag a five-wicket haul in his 100th Test.

  2. 5/89 - Anil Kumble (IND) vs SL, Ahmedabad, 2005
  3. 6/54 - Muttiah Muralitharan (SL) vs BAN, Chattogram, 2006
  4. 5/77 - Ravichandran Ashwin (IND) vs ENG, Dharamsala, 2024

Not only that, Ravichandran Ashwin is the first and only bowler to have attained a five-wicket haul in his debut as well as his 100th Test game.

Needless to say, Ashwin's recent records are a testament to his mastery of spin bowling and his ability to thrive on the grandest stage of them all.

At 37, while most cricketers call it quits, Ravichandran Ashwin is leading India to memorable victories in the Test format, and he is far from done.
