After an embarrassing loss to UP Warriorz, Delhi Capitals Women will be up against Royal Challengers Bangalore Women for their penultimate fixture of the WPL 2024 season’s league stage. However, given the recent loss, Meg Lanning is expected to tweak the starting combination with a significant addition.

Delhi Capitals Women were involved in one of the most bizarre games played in WPL history. They lost to UP Warriorz by one run the other night after having lost seven wickets inside the last three overs.

Delhi needed 27 off 18 deliveries with seven wickets in hand. However, they somehow botched the game after Deepti Sharma picked up a hat trick. Not only should DC-W have won the game, but given the wicket in hand, the top order should have finished the game a while earlier.

Regardless, Delhi Capitals Women must gather themselves to face the mighty RCB-W on Sunday. While DC’s track record against Smriti Mandhana and Co. has been exceptional, they cannot take any games for granted.

For this particular fixture, Annabel Sutherland must pave the way for Marizanne Kapp. Sutherland didn’t show enough maturity with the bat given her stature. Additionally, Kapp has been exceptional with the new ball this season and her breakthroughs during crucial moments has been a key for DC’s success.

The rest of the squad looks balanced and fine. Shafali Verma must resolve her issues with consistency to support her captain at the top. The middle order will strengthen after Kapp’s addition.

Notably, Delhi Capitals are seated at the top of the points table, with a playoff finish nearly ensured. Regardless, taking anything for granted at this stage would be a big mistake from Meg Lanning.

Overall, with Kapp’s inclusion, DC-W will place itself as a perennial contender against RCB-W, which is a highly anticipated upcoming WPL fixture.
