In a significant development around Champions Trophy 2025, there are reports that the PCB has asked BCCI to submit their response in writing over participation for the upcoming fifty-over event in February. Notably, the Champions Trophy 2025 is less than three months away. At present, stadiums in Pakistan are undergoing renovation, and the ICC is happy with the progress.

However, India are yet to confirm their participation, which has led to a delay in the release of the schedule for the Champions Trophy.  Recently, there have been reports that the PCB and ICC are set to reveal the schedule on November 11 or 12, with India matches scheduled in Lahore. However, according to a recent report from Cricket Pakistan,  the ICC will release the schedule next week irrespective of BCCI's confirmation.

India's Champions Trophy 2025 Participation In Government's Hands

At present, the matter is in the Indian government's hands, as revealed by BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla. Meanwhile, the PCB's COO, Salman Naseer, has been in ongoing discussions with ICC officials in Dubai as the schedule is getting delayed because of India's late response.

In case, India declines, the ICC is prepared with a backup plan and revised budget. However, the details of that plan are yet to be disclosed, but it is assumed that the BCCI won't be pressured by the PCB pushing for a written response and will take their own time to provide an official statement on the same.

The latest proposal from the PCB to BCCI was to allow Indian team to return to Delhi or Chandigarh after every match, but their proposal was denied by the BCCI as there are reports that the apex Indian cricket board is pushing for a hybrid model of entire tournament to be pushed out of Pakistan because of safety concerns.
