The International Cricket Council (ICC), in compliance with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will reportedly be announcing the entire schedule of next year’s 2025 ICC Champions Trophy within the next few days. An ICC delegation is scheduled to visit Lahore in November 10 to inspect the arrangements made by the PCB for the Champions Trophy venues.
As reported by Cricket Pakistan, a schedule has already been shared with the participating countries.
2025 Champions Trophy schedule to be unveiled soon
An official schedule of the 2025 Champions Trophy will likely be unveiled by the ICC and the PCB in mid-November. As per a tentative schedule released earlier this year, hosts Pakistan will be facing New Zealand in Karachi on February 19 in the opening match of the tournament.
During ICC’s delegation visit to Pakistan next week, a significant event pertaining to the 2025 Champions Trophy is expected to be organized on November 11. The event will likely feature prominent figures from the cricketing world, and it might take centerstage for the official unveiling of the tournament schedule.
Regardless of the schedule, as many as eight teams will be participating in the tournament. While Group A features teams like India, Bangladesh, New Zealand and hosts Pakistan; Group B consists of Afghanistan, Australia, England and South Africa.
That being said, Team India’s participation continues to remain an uncertainty owing to BCCI’s reluctance citing security concerns in Pakistan stemming from the geo-political tensions shared by the two countries.
As per reports, the BCCI is pushing for a hybrid model for the tournament, which would see a separate nation hosting India’s share of matches, much like the 2023 Asia Cup as co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
