The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has assured a speedy issuance of visas for Indian fans aiming to attend Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy next year. On Friday, November 1, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi made the assurance during his meeting with a group of pilgrims from the USA.

Naqvi’s statement regarding visas came at a time when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to confirm India’s travelling plans for the tournament. As of now, Team India’s participation for the multi-nation event remains in doubt owing to the prevailing political tensions shared by the two countries.

PCB lures BCCI with speedy visas for Indian fans

Mohsin Naqvi, also the Federal Interior Minister, has claimed that the PCB will be issuing swifts visas to Indian fans for the 2025 Champions Trophy. He added that the PCB is expecting a positive response from Indian fans for the multi-nation tournament, particularly for the high-ticket match between India and Pakistan.

As quoted by a Pakistani newspaper, the PCB chairman said:

“We will be keeping a special quota of tickets for Indian fans and we will try to make the visa issuance policy brisk.”

While the schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy has already been drawn out by the PCB, Team India’s participation for the tournament continues to remain an uncertain factor owing to the prevailing geo-political tensions shared by the two countries.

As per reports, the BCCI is suggesting a hybrid-model for India’s share of matches for the 2025 Champions Trophy. Interestingly, the 2023 Asia Cup was also co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with Team India playing all its matches in the island nation.

However, the PCB has repeatedly confirmed its intentions of being the sole hosts of the 2025 Champions Trophy. The eight-team event is set to be played in February and March next year.
