On Tuesday, November 5, the BCCI released the list of registered players for the IPL 2025 mega-auction to be held in Jeddah on November 24, and 25. A total of 1574 players registered for the mega-event.
The apex cricket board of India is yet to announce the official list of players for the mega-auction, but they have released the country-wise distribution of players who have registered for the event on November 24.
1165 Indians Register For IPL 2025 Mega-Auction
Among the registered players, 1165 are Indians, including 965 uncapped players. The list features 48 capped Indian stars. Meanwhile, a total of 409 overseas players have registered.
It is worth noting that the likes of Rishabh Pant, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul are some of the marquee Indian-capped players who will headline the event. While, Jos Buttler, Glenn Maxwell and Jofra Archer are key overseas players in the auction.
However, it is worth noting that not all 1574 players will go under the hammer as it would be a tedious task to auction all the registered players. Thus, the list will be narrowed down and this article will shed light on how that process of shortening the list takes place.
How Does The List Gets Shortened?
When the BCCI officially released the list of 1574 registered players along with their base value. The list will be sent to each franchise to have a look.
All teams will thoroughly go through the list and make their own list of players they are interested in and want to be screened at the auction table. Similarly, all teams will do a similar process and eventually, the players that are not shown interest by any team will be dropped from the list.
If a player gets interest from one of the teams, he will be a part of the narrowed list and go under the hammer at the auction. Worth noting that only 333 players made the final shortlist out of the 1166 who registered for the auction that was held in Dubai last year.
