Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan's explosive opener, is set to make an early departure from the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 due to obligations with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The PCB has called him back to participate in the upcoming Champions One-Day Cup.

Champions One-Day Cup is Pakistan's premier domestic ODI tournament, which begins on September 12 at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

Fakhar Zaman's Impressive Performance In CPL 2024

Fakhar Zaman had been in impressive form for the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons in the CPL and scored 83 runs in just two innings, but his exit will leave a significant void at the top of the order for his team.

It is important to mention that Zaman's return to Pakistan underscores the PCB's commitment to strengthening its domestic cricket by ensuring top players participate in domestic tournaments. He will join one of the five teams before the start of the one-day competition.

Other Pakistani Players To Continue In CPL 2024

According to the reports of Sportskeeda, Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan seems to have other plans. He is expected to continue playing in the CPL 2024, and will not participate in Pakistan's Champions One-Day Cup.

Additionally, Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir and all-rounder Imad Wasim will remain in the Caribbean for the rest of the CPL. Both players will not play in the Champions One-Day Cup which will allow them them to focus on their T20 performances in the CPL.

Meanwhile, rising star Saim Ayub has been absent from the CPL 2024 as he is currently involved in Pakistan's home Test series against Bangladesh.

Ayub has been making waves in the red-ball format, including a standout fifty in the ongoing series.  The PCB did not grant him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the CPL, as he is a key part of Pakistan’s Test plans.

After the Test series, Ayub is likely to participate in the Champions One-Day Cup, where he could play for one of the five teams: the Dolphins, Lions, Panthers, Stallions, or Wolves.
