In a dramatic turn of events during the 2nd Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan's opener Saim Ayub's hopes of a strong innings were dashed.

On Day 3, Pakistan had ended with two wickets down, losing Abdullah Shafique and Khurram Shahzad cheaply. With the team needing stability, the left-handed batter faced the challenge of anchoring Pakistan's innings as they resumed on Day 4.

Unfortunately, Saim Ayub could not rise to the occasion. In the 13th over of Pakistan’s second innings, Ayub threw away his wicket, giving Bangladesh their first breakthrough of the day.

It was an overpitched delivery outside off by Taskin Ahmed that tempted Ayub into an aggressive drive. However, his shot lacked control, and the ball went straight to Najmul Hossain Shanto at widish mid-off, who completed a sharp diving catch to his left.

Ayub, visibly disappointed, had to walk back to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs, leaving Pakistan in a vulnerable position.

Pakistan Left Reeling In The 2nd Test

Earlier in the match, Pakistan managed to restrict Bangladesh to 262 runs in their first innings, thanks to a disciplined bowling performance. Pakistan then responded with 274-10 in their first innings, gaining a slim 12-run lead.

However, as the second innings unfolded, Pakistan found themselves struggling against Bangladesh’s spirited bowling attack, led by Nahid Rana. Rana, who claimed three crucial wickets, removed key players Shan Masood, Babar Azam, and Saud Shakeel.

As of now, Pakistan stand at 123 with six wickets down, leading by 129 runs.
