In a surprising turn of events, former Delhi batsman Mithun Manhas is all set to take over as the next president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The decision was reportedly taken during a meeting in Delhi, where Manhas was picked as the top candidate.
Sitting president Roger Binny resigned from his post after turning 70 due to an age bar set by the board for its office bearers. Ahead of the official elections scheduled for September 28, Manhas’ name has come up out of nowhere.

According to the Indian Express, ex-Delhi cricketer Mithun Manhas will be appointed as the next BCCI president. While big names like Harbhajan Singh and Raghuram Bhatt were in the race, the selectors reportedly have decided to go with the 45-year-old former cricketer instead.
Manhas has a strong cricketing background. He played 157 first-class matches, scoring 9,714 runs in a career that lasted 18 years. After retirement, he took up various roles in cricket administration and coaching.
