Capping an eventful day in the world of cricket, here we take a look at five of the biggest cricketing news that emerged out of Saturday, September 20.

West Indies To Camp In Ahmedabad For India Tests Preparation

The West Indies cricket team will reportedly hold a training camp in Ahmedabad in a bid to prepare for their upcoming two-match Test series against hosts Team India. As per the information shared with the BCCI and with the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), the Roston Chase-led West Indies team will likely be training in Ahmedabad between September 24 and September 29. Mustafizur Rahman Levels With Shakib For Huge Bangladesh Record

Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman picked up impressive figures of 3-20 from his four overs to restrict Sri Lanka to 168-7 in match number 13 of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup in Dubai. Through the course of his three-wicket haul, Rahman also extended his T20I wickets tally to 149 scalps in just 116 innings at an average of 20.57. The fast bowler has now levelled up with former Bangladesh captain and legendary all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan to become the joint-highest wicket-taker in T20Is for his country. Shakib also snared 149 wickets in his career, albeit at an average of 20.91.

Beth Mooney, Mandhana Light Up Delhi With Record Tons

Australia Women edged out India by 43 runs in a high-scoring series-decider in Delhi. Beth Mooney tonked 138 off just 75 balls, and reached her century from just 57 deliveries to record one of the fastest women’s ODI centuries of all time as Australia mounted a colossal 412. Georgia Voll and Ellyse Perry also smeared scintillating half-centuries in the innings.

In response, prolific India Women opener Smriti Mandhana blasted a fifty-ball ton in her 125-run knock from just 63 balls. Harmanpreet Kaur and Deepti Sharma also shaped brisk fifties but a three-wicket haul from Kim Garth folded up India for a fighting 369 in 47 overs. Notably, Smriti Mandhana notched up a slew of batting records through her electrifying century.

Andy Pycroft To Continue As Referee In India vs Pakistan: Report

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Pycroft will continue as match referee, and will even officiate in the upcoming high-octane Asia Cup 2025 Super Four match between India and Pakistan, as per a PTI report. Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had expressed their displeasure with Pycroft, especially after accusing the referee of playing a role in the entire ‘handshake’ saga during the group stage of the tournament. After the Indian team players refused to shake hands with their Pakistani counterparts, the PCB even threatened to boycott their next match against UAE before eventually taking field for the game.

Noor Ahmad, Mujeeb Punished By ICC After SL Defeat

Afghanistan spin bowlers Noor Ahmad and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct, with both instances occurring during Afghanistan’s final Group match of the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup against Sri Lanka. While Noor Ahmad breached Article 2.8 by showing dissent to an umpire decision, Mujeeb Ur Rahman breached Article 2.2 by breaking stumps with his towel at one stage of the Sri Lankan run-chase in Abu Dhabi.
